The falling limb of the curve reflects a falling stage of relative sea level, and the rising limb reflects a rising stage of relative sea level over an interval of time. Red indicates times during which components of the lowstand systems tract were deposited, in relation to the position of relative sea level. Transgressive and highstand systems tracts are shown in green.
