Encyclopedia
of Stress was awarded the British Medical
Association’s 2001 book commendation for mental health
Currently Director of the Mental Health Research Institute of
Victoria, Australia, he was formerly Vice President and Director
of Research of the Pharmos Corporation, and is the former Director
of the Medical Research Council's Brain Metabolism Unit and honorary
professor in the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. A graduate
of Melbourne University (MD) and Oxford University (DPhil), Dr
Fink has published over 360 scientific papers and several authoritative
books. He was editor-in-chief of the first edition of the Encyclopedia
of Stress which was awarded the British Medical Association’s
2001 book commendation for mental health. Dr Fink has served on
numerous national and international scientific committees and is
past president of the European Neuroendocrine Association. His
distinctions include the Lifetime Achievement Award of the International
Society of Psychoneuroendocrinology (2000) and Honorary Member
of the British Society for Neuroendocrinology (2005). He is Fellow
of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and of the Royal College of Physicians
of Edinburgh.
