Michelson’s Platelets won
the Best Book in Medical Science Award from the
Association of American Publishers.
Alan Michelson has authored more than 300 research publications
and is an inventor of two US patents: the Detection of Procoagulant
Platelet-derived Microparticles in Whole Blood and Platelet
Analysis in Whole Blood. He has completed medical training
on a Fulbright Scholarship at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and
Women’s Hospital, and Children’s Hospital, all in Boston,
Massachusetts. He has been a principal investigator on over 70
major grants (including from the National Institutes of Health
and American Heart Association). Michelson has also been an invited
speaker at over 100 major medical conferences and seminars in the
United States, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands,
Belgium, Israel, and Australia. He is currently Chairman of the
Platelet Physiology Scientific Subcommittee of the Scientific and
Standardization Committee (SSC) and International Society on Thrombosis
and Haemostasis (ISTH).
