General Electric (GE) is one of the largest engine manufactuers in the world producing a
range of military and civil engines. Their new engine is the GE90 which has been designed
to power the B777 aircraft. This new large engine is expected to exceed 100,000lb thrust
during its development. The CF6 range of engines started on the DC10 aircraft in 1968.
Over the subsequent years this engine has been developed for use on most of the
medium/large aircraft from B767, 747, MD11, A300-330. Current developments are aimed at
the stretched version of the A340.
