Rolls Royce
(RR) is a long established British company producing a wide range of military and civil
engines. The three shaft RB211 range of engines power the B747-400, B757 and other
aircraft. The Trent series is the latest in the development line from the 211 and in the
700 series powers the A330 aircraft and the canceled MD12 project. The higher powered
versions (800 series) are used for the B777 aircraft. The proposed 900 series is projected
for the new large aircraft (A3XX, B747 developments). The smaller Tay series of engines
power small/medium size aircraft needing about 60kN thrust per engine.
