International (CFMI) is a joint venture company between. General Electric (USA) and Snecma
(France) formed in 1974 to provide a customer interface for the CFM56 engine programme,
This range of engines covers a thrust range of 82 to 151kN and is suitable to power the
mid-size, twins (typically B737 and A320). There are several feeder version of this engine
with the CFM56-7 been the latest. It was initially certified in 1996/7) and selected for
the new B737 series.
International Aero Engines (IAE) involves a joint venture
between four companies (P&W, RR, MTU and JAE). This company manages and markets the
V2500 range of engines in the 97 to 147kN thrust range. These power the A320 and MD90
series of aircraft.
